Looking back at 2016

La Blonde en baskets

Hi guys,

I’ve been a bit afk lately and got some problems with my photoshop (to do my outfit mood,  I’ll try to fix it for January !) also I wish you a Merry late Christmas ! I hope you enjoyed time with the people you love 🎄

As we are at the end of the year, I usually take this as an opportunity to have a throwback at it and to focus on myself. I like to take challenges and fulfill some dreams (let’s be real we all have that bucket list 😉 ) and I like to really think about what I did in a year. It’s super motivating and challenging for the new year to come to do better !

So here is my 2016’s list :

  • I have been graduated and finished my studies. 🎓
  • I have worked at the adidas headquarters and really lived a dream there.👟
  • I have met a lot of famous athletes such as Paul Pogba, Yoann Blake, Tori Bowie, Nickel Ashmeade, Warren Weir, Angelique Kerber, and a lot more..  and I got the chance to listen their speeches about failure/success.
  • I have met Pharrell Williams in person: this has been my biggest dream/fulfillment this year. I still can’t believe how lucky I’ve been to listen to him speaking about his career, inspiration, success, failure, and life. He is the most inspiring person I’ve ever met and despite the fact that he is a celebrity, he is so humble and open-minded.
  • I have moved in another country 📦 : it was without doubt the hardest thing I’ve done this year. I’ve moved in Germany in a new city where I knew nobody. But it was the best decision of my life,  I’ve met incredible people, a new culture that I really fit in, and a great job. That’s what I call getting out of my comfort zone.
  • I’ve been in new countries 🌍 : Czech Republic and Spain (in the Balearic Island more precisely). I’ve discovered new cultures, new places and took amazing pictures 😉

But I also didn’t reached all the goals I had, so here is my 2017’s goals :

  • Run 10km : I tried but never reached that point so I’ll try again this year. (if I can fix my knees issue)
  • Discover new countries and new places (Italy would be awesome)
  • Improve my blog (why not ? )
  • Buy a new DSLR camera

I encourage you to do your list, that’s what keep me motivated. Cause this year I’ve been through some really hard moments as well. But as I keep telling myself : “c’est la fucking vie” ✌🏼️

Have a wonderful day world ❤️

Xmas wishlist

Vannes city

There we are again ! Favorite month of the year !

Oh December I love you : the Christmas markets, the lights and decorations in the cities, the cold (yeah even though I usually grumble about it), the food, the family reunion and of course the gifts… omg I’m so looking forward to Christmas !🎅🏼🎄

I usually start my month by creating a xmas wishlist and by giving some hints to my family (I can’t ask them directly, I have to make them believe that the ideas come from them…😈)
So for this year I have a veeeeeery long list and of course I know I won’t have half of it ! (as usual) but there is my top 5 !

1. The Nikon D5500

As I mentioned in a previous post, I really want to change my DSLR camera that is getting old (almost 7 years…) so I really hope to find this cutie in my shoes !

2. Make-up selection

Ok I’m not the most girly girl, BUT I sometimes would like to have some good expensive make-up. So my selection make-up would be the following :

  • Naked Palette 3: Love the colors that are really easy to wear by day and also for a night out.
  • Mac lipstick : I’m crazy about dark colors (I don’t like bright colors on my lips, they don’t fit me at all).
  • NARS blush Super Orgasm: can we have a moment to appreciate its color ?

3. A rotating hot air brush

I have to admit that I love the idea of being able to do a Kate Middleton brushing at home. I don’t really like straightening my hair anymore.. It gets too straight and lose all the volume.. I have the feeling that this brush could be really great (when you know how to use it, and I’m sure that it’s a real struggle at first…)

4. Sunglasses

I totally fell in love with the new Rayban sunglasses : the Clubround
Ok I already have 3 pairs of Rayban but.. no I have no excuse on this one…

5. A new travel bag

Need, need, need ! I’ve got one since 2012 that is getting in a really bad shape (if we can say that about a bag) now..

I recently discovered and fell in love with the brand Douchebags (created by Jon Olsson a professional skier). Those bags are made and designed for traveler and athletes, that needs to bring a lots of gears with them. I personally prefer bags to hard luggages so this bag would definitely be the perfect one for me. They are available in different colors (I love it in grey and in burgundy).

And you, what’s on your wishlist ? 📜 🎁

About my job

La Blonde en baskets

Hey guys ! 🙂

As I mentioned in my Bio blogpost, I’m gonna talk about what I really do in life. I’m not living as a blogger or influencer or whatever, I’m a Visual Merchandiser.

Never heard of it ? Don’t worry, most of the time when people ask for what I do, I always see in their eyes that they’ve absolutely no clue about what I’m talking about. So I’m always explaining what it’s about and I’ll do the same here. 🙂

What’s Visual Merchandising ?

“Visual merchandising refers to anything that can be seen by the customer inside and outside a store, including displays, decorations, signs and layout of space. The overall purpose of visual merchandising is to get customers to come into the store and spend money. Visual merchandising includes how merchandise is presented as well as the store’s total atmosphere. It also includes determining in-store traffic flow patterns to calculate the best places to put displays so the greatest number of people will see them.” learn.org

I found this definition that, in my opinion, sums-up well what it really is. The aim is to make a store looking awesome in order to attract customers, then to showcase products the best we can to sell them, while creating at the same time a good shopping experience for the consumers.

About me :

I personally did a degree in Marketing and then a bachelor in Visual Merchandising. I started in-store, which is really important to understand how a store works, how to implement/showcase products using the brand’s guidelines etc.. and now I’m working in headquarters, where I create the implementations books/directives that are then sent to the stores.

So, basically I’m a nerd using Photoshop/Illustrator and 3D softwares but I do love my job, I can mix creativity with real business issues, it requires a good knowledge in fashion, colors, architecture, and every inspirations is taken ! That’s how we create new concepts in stores..

I’m done with this little blogpost a bit aside of what I want to talk about, but hope you’ve found it interesting though and learnt something. 😉

Heading to Mallorca in few days, so looking forward to it !

Cheers, Xxx

It’s been a while since I was thinking about it, I tried many times but at the end I always dropped the idea. And there I am: trying one more time though !

So, who’s the blonde wearing sneakers ? (yeah for the non-french speakers : “Baskets” means “Sneakers” 😉 )

She’s a 21yo girl, called Marianne and born in Brittany (north west of France). She travels as soon as she can (thanks to her adventurous mum !). She learnt by herself photography, photo edits and some IT stuff. Her job ? Visual Merchandiser (if you don’t know what it is, don’t worry you’re not alone, it’ll be a good article topic btw). She is blonde and owns a huge amount of sneakers (hard to work in the sport industry !) And yeah, she also enjoy sports,  and tried many different ones : Classical ballet, gymnastic, swimming, horse-ridding, fitness.. and on top of that, she comes from a sporty family !

So, in a word, here, she’ll talk about travels, sports, clothes, and everything she finds interesting. And she promises she won’t speak at the 3rd person singular any longer !

I’m starting the blog in English, cause I feel more inspired than doing it in French (weirdo) and I do hope you’ll enjoy your time here,

Cheers ❤
